Aside from the amount of training involved, an Idaho Standard Carry and Concealed Weapons License is limited in states in which honor your training and acceptance. The Idaho Standard License is very broad and very applicable for most citizens who carry in Idaho and occasionally travel to limited other states.
An Idaho Enhanced Carry and Concealed Weapons License adds additional states which honor the license. For example, the Idaho Enhanced Carry and Concealed License is accepted in: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentuck,y Louisiana, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Please check with each state prior visiting to verify as laws can change.
NOTE: Oregon only accepts their own license and does not accept the Idaho Enhanced License.
The answer is yes. But you must show competency with the firearm during the shooting portion of the class. We recommend contacting us to set up a basic firearms instruction session prior to the enhanced class. We will train you in the basic skills to handle a firearm and take you to the range to fire prior to your enhanced class.
NO. We do recommend you shoot what you are comfortable with. We also suggest you use the caliber you will be carrying on a regular basis.
Safety is our top priority at South West Idaho Firearms Training. We have strict safety protocols in place, including mandatory safety briefings and range rules, to ensure the safety of all participants.
The Idaho Enhanced class requires participants to shoot a pistol a minimum of 100 rounds. For this class students will need to bring their handgun of choice, Ear and Eye Protection, at least 100 rounds of factory-loaded ammunition.
We accept Cash (Call prior to registration) and all major credit cards.
Idaho Enhanced License does require range time and shooting. Students will be expected to always demonstrate gun safety either in the classroom or on the range. There will be no live ammunition allowed in the classroom.
Applications for Firearm Permit must be submitted within 12 months after you take the class. We recommend getting it in as soon as possible after the class is taken. If more than one year has passed and you failed to submit your paperwork, you will need to attend the class again and get new paperwork. Don’t let that happen to you.
It depends on what the offenses are and where and when they occurred. Since we do not actually issue your permit, we advise you to contact the issuing authority (usually your local sheriff's office) and ask them directly.
No, taking this class does not guarantee the issuance of a concealed carry permit as participants must be legally permitted to own a firearm, and will need to pass a federal background check. For further determination, we encourage you to contact a licensed Idaho attorney or your local sheriff's office.
No. Many people who take our class have little or no prior firearm experience. You don’t even need to own a gun to attend a class. However, if you wish to attend the Idaho Enhanced Class, there is a shooting requirement. We do, however, rent pistols for those who have not yet purchased one. If you plan on renting a firearm, please contact us (208-781-1441) for availability of gun rentals.
